What the Day Looks Like

Whole-school assembly – eclipseArts opens the day with an energetic assembly for the whole school, introducing the circus skills and setting the tone for the day ahead
Class-by-class workshop sessions – each class rotates through a structured workshop with hands-on time on every piece of equipment
Free skills time – pupils get to revisit their favourite props and push their skills further
Optional end-of-day showcase – classes can finish with an informal performance to show off what they have learnt
Circus Skills Covered
Every workshop includes a broad range of accessible circus skills, introduced progressively so every pupil can succeed regardless of experience or confidence level.
Juggling – scarves for younger pupils, balls and clubs for older year groups
Diabolo
Poi
Plate spinning
Hula hoops
Flower sticks / devil sticks
Stilt walking (where space allows)
All equipment is provided by eclipseArts. Your school just needs to supply a suitable indoor space such as the school hall.
Curriculum Links and Learning Outcomes
Circus workshops aren’t just fun – they map directly onto curriculum objectives and school priorities.
PE curriculum – physical coordination, balance, bilateral motor skills, and active participation for every pupil in the class.
PSHE – resilience and perseverance are built naturally as pupils work through the challenge of learning a new skill. Every child experiences the satisfaction of getting something right after trying.
Teamwork and communication – group challenges and games woven throughout the session encourage pupils to support and encourage each other.
Creativity and self-expression – circus skills offer a genuinely different creative outlet, particularly valuable for pupils who don’t engage as readily with traditional arts activities.

What Schools Say
“Tom has run Circus Skills after schools clubs for KS1 and KS2 this term at my school. They have been very well attended and also well led. Tom has impressive Circus Skills and is able to help children progressively pick up the skills and have fun too! He started off with a very entertaining assembly that showed what Circus Skills are. This encouraged many children to join the clubs. He has a CRB and has a very pleasant manner with the children. He comes with a good reference from a school he worked with in Oxfordshire where he previously lived. If you want to run a different sort of club to the usual range of after school clubs then I would recommend trying this.”
